Our Programs
Community Awaken has developed a program that consists of tutoring Black American students in public school districts that are academically performing below proficiency levels in reading, writing, and mathematics. Unfortunately current data shows that over 70% of Black American students in public school fall into this group.
Tutoring Methods
Community Awaken offers both in-person and virtual tutoring services. We encourage students and teachers to teach and learn in the ways that best suit them.
In Person
Each teacher will determine where and how they'd like to facilitate in-person tutoring. However, Community Awaken's staff provides assistance to the teachers in securing a venue if necessary. We do this through community building and leveraging public spaces such as churches and community centers.
Virtual
In light of modern technological advances, Community Awaken offers virtual tutoring to students. Equipment, such as computers, tablets, etc, will be provided on an as-needed basis to students.
